Enriching the lives of senior citizens through Art and Music

The community is sharing art, music and new friends in this outreach befitting senior citizens living in Katy. The ARTreach/Sunrise Day of Caring held on Sunday, September 16th introduced local ARTreach volunteers, and the moms and daughters from the National Charity League Azalea Chapter to the residents of this beautiful assisted living community. 

This ARTreach program serves the elderly, assisted seniors and patients in care who are making a transition into a new life in Katy. Sometimes, moving from an independent lifestyle to an assisted lifestyle can be a difficult transition, no matter how important and necessary. Making new friends and feeling connected to their new home is an important part of the healthy transition.

New senior living communities are being built all over Katy to accommodate the range of needs including assisted living, and Alzheimer’s care. In partnership with the Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music ARTreach is helping to bring classical music and jazz ensembles to assisted living communities and other communities in need.

This is a Community ARTreach Partnership Program.  Michael Guearva is the artistic director of the Katy Performing Arts Society and owner of the Cinco Ranch Conservatory of Music, “I read about the programs ARTreach was trying to get off the ground and immediately offered our support available through the Katy Performing Arts Society and our Conservatory. We have local master musicians, and numerous concert opportunities we can share!” Guearva is also a professional musician and master trumpet player as well.
